Yes, our philosophy is very different from other publishers' and we have anticipated some of your questions:
How can Sound Music Publications do all of this?
We are able to offer quality musical selections because we have a straight forward, unique philosophy—we trust you.
What does that mean?
We're going to give you a very special privilege with our product—when you buy our music we'll grant you permission to make as many copies as you deem necessary.
Really? So, what's the catch?
There is no catch. It's quite simple. Basically, we really don't sell paper or ink. We sell the artistry of the composer and arranger. So, you can make as many copies of the music as you like. You will be accountable and responsible for the copies you make. The copies are yours alone. You must agree to never sell, loan, trade, or transfer the originals and/or any section of the copies to anyone else.
Why, would that be illegal?
Yes. To break this agreement would put you in violation of United States copyright laws and you would be held liable. We encourage you to read Sound Music Publications' Copyright and License Agreement
That sounds fair. Are there any other benefits?
Yes. We're going to save you a great deal of money and time because we only need to send you one copy of the chart, not thirty or forty (there is a minimal shipping and handling fee). However, if you don't have access to a copy machine, we'll be glad to sell you our charts in any quantity for an appropriate copying and postage fee.
Okay, but I need the chart right away!
No problem. We put your order in the mail today!
This all sounds great, but the music is probably really expensive, right?
Wrong. You'll pay much less for our music than you'd think. In fact, most of our selections sell for between $30 and $80. And there are no hidden costs. You'll get master copies of the vocal and rhythm section scores. If the chart includes other essential instrumentation, those scores will be included.
This really is different. Is there any fine print?
No. The details of our agreement are included with each order. You can call, e-mail, or contact us through this web site (www.smpjazz.com) if you have a question, or if you'd like to place an order.
